The Purge
One hour where nothing is a crime. Pedestrians riot, every shop clerk is armed, and everyone still alive at the end is paid.
It’s an event an admin switches on, and everyone online is in it. Staff can also switch on quieter changes, like hidden nametags: see When staff change the world.
How it works
- The law goes quiet. Everybody’s stars and circles are wiped at the siren, and no new stars, crimes, reports, strikes or fines can happen. The game’s own police stop responding.
- Night falls at 22:00 and the lights go out.
- Every door in the city is unlocked.
- Every shop clerk is armed. Shops can still be robbed, but every till has a gun behind it.
- The crowd turns. Pedestrians nearby riot. They fight each other and go for anyone close, and some of them are armed. Only the ones fighting show as red blips.
- Respawn takes 3 seconds instead of 8. The hospital bill still applies.
- Medics earn double.
How it ends
A five-minute warning comes at 55 minutes, and it ends itself at 60. Everyone still alive is paid $100 for each minute it ran, up to $6,000, and the top three player killers are read out. Then the clerks calm down, the doors relock, the time and lights come back, and the law starts recording again.
Tips
- Staying alive is what’s paid, and every death costs you a hospital bill (see Death and respawn).
- Hold-ups pay as usual with no stars, but expect every clerk to shoot back.
