Wiki · Your progression
Levels 1 to 5
Steady cash jobs while you learn the city, and at level 3, your first bank with a crew.
Level 5 is 1,088 XP. The walkthrough and your goals cover about 470 of it, and an ordinary job pays 50 to 100 XP, so it’s roughly ten jobs, fewer with a daily on top.
The steady earners
None of these needs a gun or a level.
| Job | Pay | XP |
|---|---|---|
| Tow dispatch: take a truck at any tow yard, then Y on the radio | $1,400 to $1,700 a call, plus $0.24 a metre driven out and back; a quarter more for calls between 22:00 and 05:00 game time | 55 to 65 civilian and 25 to 35 Towing for a kerb call |
| Trucking cargo: the docks or the Grapeseed depot | $500 plus $0.54 a metre (a 5 km haul is about $3,200); parking in the bay adds 5 to 20% | About 100 for that 5 km haul |
| A petrol run: you pick the station | $0.40 a metre, plus $0.80 a litre (double at an empty tank) | Trucking XP, +30 |
| Simeon’s repo jobs: his desk at Premium Deluxe | $1,600 for an easy job plus $0.40 a metre, less up to 75% for damage | 60 |
| The pimp, outside each club | Trouble on the corner: $800 plus $0.30 a metre, 1% more per civilian level | 50 |
Today’s work pays on top. /work shows three jobs for the game day, and a tow, trucking, petrol, repo or pimp job can be one of them. See
Your first hour.
Your tow rank is your Towing skill. Rank 2 comes at Towing 3, about five kerb calls in, with the Large Tow Truck, breakdowns ($2,000 base) and night calls.
Repo jobs get harder on their own. After your first job the tier is rolled on how many you’ve done; medium jobs pay $3,000 and hard ones $5,000.
The pimp’s next rung is civilian level 3: Collect the earnings, $1,600 base and 80 XP, at night only. When two of you work a job, the pot grows and you each take 75%.
The fast way: robbery
- A 24/7 or gas station till holds $800 to $2,000, and a shop safe $900 to $3,200.
- Each robbery you get away with is 60 XP and 20 Robbing.
- It also makes you wanted. That’s the trade.
At total level 3: banks
- A Fleeca branch needs no planning: carry a drill to the vault door, or hack its terminal.
- It holds three cash trolleys of $15,000 to $30,000 each.
- 150 XP and 100 Robbing to every robber.
- One bank an hour per robber, whichever branch. Bring a crew.
See Banks and hacking.
At total level 4
Cargo runs can come with a random event: illegal goods, fragile goods or zoo animals. Each pays 10 to 25% more, plus 20 XP.
What to buy
- A vehicle, for the goal. Buy cheap first: the scrapyard buys back a car you own for 95% of what you paid, less its mileage.
- A gun, if you plan to rob: a pistol is $2,500 plus tax, with one magazine. Anybody can buy one.
- Nothing big yet. Most of your money should go toward a house.
Next on the path: Levels 5 to 10.
