Repo jobs (Simeon)
Simeon wants his cars back. Find the car, get into it however you can, and bring it to his lot without a scratch.
Opens: From the start, as a civilian
When you can start
You must be a civilian, at any level. You don’t need a vehicle: you drive his car back. A slim jim helps, but you don’t need one.
How to start
Go to Simeon’s desk inside Premium Deluxe Motorsport (it’s on the map), walk into the marker and choose Take the job. After a job, done or failed, he has another one 5 seconds later.
How it works
- Simeon texts you the area and the fee. The blip’s colour says how rough it’ll be: green is easy, yellow medium, red hard.
- Within 60 m the situation shows itself:
- Easy: a cheap car in a car park or at the kerb. It’s locked, and the keys are on the ground a short way off.
- Medium: a better car in a driveway. The owner comes out of the front door armed and comes for you. Half the time the car is unlocked; otherwise the keys are in the owner’s pocket and drop where the owner goes down.
- Hard: a car on gang turf with three or four armed gang members around it. One of them has the keys.
- Get in by picking up the keys, or with a slim jim from your pockets within 3 m of the car: it takes 4 seconds and snaps one time in four, and on a gang car it sets the crew off. While a locked car is still shut, a KEYS bar shows on screen: red “NOT FOUND” until you pick the keys up, then blue “FOUND”. It goes when you get in.
- Drive it into the bay beside the showroom, sitting in the car. Once the car is open (keys, slim jim, or it was never locked) it carries a blue cone until you drive it; before that, the blip on the map is your guide.
A repo car is a job, not a car: you can’t smash its windows or use its boot. If you deliver it, it fades on the lot. If the job fails, the car is removed once nobody is in it.
The clock is about 0.12 seconds a metre of the round trip (5 to 15 minutes), plus 2, 3 or 4 minutes for easy, medium or hard. Running out of time, dying, or the car being destroyed fails the job, and it pays nothing.
Which tier you get:
| Jobs already delivered | Easy | Medium | Hard |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Always | ||
| 1 to 2 | 60% | 40% | |
| 3 to 8 | 30% | 40% | 30% |
| 9 to 23 | 20% | 40% | 40% |
| 24 or more | 10% | 35% | 55% |
Pay
| Tier | Fee | Civilian XP | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | $1,600 + $0.40 a metre from the desk to the car | 60 | |
| Medium | $3,000 + $0.40 a metre | 100 | |
| Hard | $5,000 + $0.40 a metre | 150 | Sometimes a duffel bag, put in your pockets when you deliver (with room for it) |
Damage comes off the fee, up to 75% for a wreck. Condition is the engine and body health times the car’s looks, and the looks lose 10% for the windscreen, 10% for a bumper off, 8% for a burst tyre, 6% for a damaged door, bonnet or boot, 4% for a headlight, 3% for any other window, and up to 25% for dents.
For example: an easy car 2 km from the desk pays $2,400, or $1,500 brought back at half condition. A hard car 3 km away pays $6,200.
Getting better at it
There’s no repo rank: every job pays civilian XP, and the more cars you’ve delivered, the more often you get the medium and hard jobs that pay most. Your F10 Profile, on the Civilian card, counts your repo jobs done, how many of each tier, how many you failed, and your best time for each tier. A delivery with nothing taken off the fee earns Showroom condition, and a car back from every tier earns Simeon’s Favourite.
Tips
- Slim jims are rare: you sometimes find one on a gang member’s body. Keep one for the medium and hard jobs.
- Hard jobs are where a duffel bag comes from if you’ve never found one in a dumpster, and you need a bag to rob the jeweller.
- Drive back gently. Tyres, glass, bumpers and dents all come off your pay.
- On a medium job, try the door first: half the cars are unlocked.
